Poland's state-of-the-art BSL-3+ laboratory completed

The first BSL-3+ laboratory in northern Poland is about to begin work. On January 22, the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology UG and MUG held the official opening of a unique space where research into, among other things, coronavirus and tick-borne encephalitis virus will be conducted. The Minister of Science and Higher Education, Dariusz Wieczorek, congratulated UG on the new unit.

European Congress of Virology in Gdańsk

The 8th European Congress of Virology (ECV) is the largest virology congress in Europe, attended by European scientists working in various fields of virology. The congress is held every 3 years; the previous one in 2019 was held in Rotterdam and 2016 in Hamburg. This year, the congress was held in Poland for the first time. This is, of course, a great honour for Gdańsk. 

Final of the Biotechnology Knowledge Competition 'Proteins and their Role in Human Metabolism and Diseases'.

The final of another edition of the Biotechnology Knowledge Competition for secondary school students was held on 20.03.2023 at our Faculty. This time, students faced the topic 'Proteins and their Role in Human Metabolism and Diseases'. The competition was intended for students from the Pomeranian Voivodeship. Forty-one students from 15 schools qualified for the finals. The final competition questions were challenging, covering many university-level biochemistry topics.
