FarU Immunology Meeting debuts – a new chapter in the scientific collaboration in Gdańsk

On Saturday, June 7th 2025, the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk hosted a remarkable scientific conference – the FarU Immunology Meeting. It was the first event of its kind in Poland, bringing together academic communities from all three institutions forming The Fahrenheit Union of Universities in Gdańsk (FarU).

The conference program featured four thematic scientific sessions focusing on clinical, experimental, and translational immunology, as well as joint ventures session. The event served as a platform for integrating the scientific community, exchanging ideas, and strengthening ties while promoting interdisciplinary collaboration among FarU research units.

The highlight of the conference was a keynote lecture by Professor Graham Ogg from the University of Oxford, a world-renowned expert in immunology and dermatology. His talk, titled “Lipid-reactive T cells and the skin: biology and therapeutic relevance,” drew great interest from attendees.

Young researchers from the Tricity area had the opportunity to showcase their work during a poster session, with the best presentations receiving awards

The event was held under the honorary patronage of the Daniel Fahrenheit Association of Gdańsk Universities, the University of Gdańsk, and the Medical University of Gdańsk. It was also supported by the Polish Society for Experimental and Clinical Immunology. The conference, which attracted nearly 100 registered participants, was free of charge thanks to the support of sponsors: BD (Gold Sponsor), BioLike, Merck, and Promega.

IFB scientists were involved in the organization of this unique event: the driving force behind the conference and its main coordinator was Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak, Professor at the University of Gdańsk, head the Laboratory of Experimental and Translational Immunology. The organization was also supported by students and PhD candidates from the Laboratory: Reza Abouali, Mikołaj Klimczuk, Aniela Kosobucka, and Argho Aninda Paul.

The FarU Immunology Meeting is a new addition to the scientific event calendar in Poland and has already demonstrated the value of collaboration and integration in advancing modern science.
