2. Appointment of reviewers   The Discipline Council appoints two reviewers from among persons who are not employees of UG and the university or other unit of which the applicant for the doctoral degree is an employee, with the proviso that the reviewer may be a person holding at least a post-doctoral degree or a person who does not meet this requirement, who is an employee of a foreign university or scientific institution if the Council considers that the person has significant achievements in the scientific issues to which the doctoral thesis relates. Reviewers may also be appointed before the dissertation is submitted. The review process takes two months. The review may contain proposals for the completion or improvement of the dissertation, which are communicated to the candidate and the supervisor by the discipline council conducting the doctoral thesis. The candidate submits the completed or revised dissertation to the discipline council conducting the doctoral dissertation, which refers it to the same reviewers for reassessment. Reviewers submit a review of the completed or revised dissertation to the discipline council conducting the doctoral dissertation within one month of receiving the request for the review. The review contains an unambiguous, either positive or negative, assessment conclusion; where the dissertation is part of a collective work, the review contains an assessment of the individual contribution of the applicant for the degree to that work. Request for the appointment of reviewers
3. Doctoral examination Before acceptance of the dissertation, the candidate passes the doctoral examinations in the primary discipline corresponding to the topic of the dissertation, an additional discipline, and a modern foreign language. The Discipline Council appoints examination boards for the primary discipline corresponding to the topic of the doctoral dissertation - consisting of at least four persons holding the title of professor in the scientific field to which this academic discipline belongs or the post-doctoral degree in this academic discipline, including a supervisor or co-supervisor; an additional discipline, consisting of at least three persons, at least one of whom holds the title of professor in the scientific field to which the academic discipline belongs, or a post-doctoral degree in that academic discipline; a modern foreign language, consisting of at least three persons, at least one of whom teaches that language at a higher education institution and the others hold at least a doctoral degree, before whom the applicant for the award of the doctoral degree takes the doctoral examination in the academic discipline. Members of examination boards may be persons from outside the Discipline Council if their composition is appointed by the Faculty Council of the day.

The doctoral committee consists of members of the examination board.
5. Admission to the defence   Following positive reviews and passing the doctoral examinations, the Discipline Council passes a resolution on acceptance and admission to the public defence. The resolution sets the day and place of the defence. Otherwise, the Council adopts a resolution on the refusal of admission to the defence with justification.
6. Making information available in BIP and POL-on   The dissertation, including its abstract and reviews, and information on the date, place and manner of the defence shall be made available in the BIP. The dissertation, including the abstract, is also submitted to the UG repository. 7. Dissertation defence   The dissertation defence is attended by no less than half of the members of the doctoral committee, including the supervisor and at least one reviewer.
8. Resolution on the acceptance of defence   The doctoral committee, in a closed session after the defence, adopts a resolution on the acceptance of the defence of the dissertation and prepares a draft resolution on the awarding of the doctoral degree.
