Prof. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak elected a Chairwoman of the Polish Society for Fundamental and Clinical Immunology, Gdańsk Branch.
We are pleased to announce the election of Prof. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak as Chairwoman of the Polish Society for Fundamental and Clinical Immunology, Gdańsk Branch. Prof. Gutowska-Owsiak is an immunologist with years of experience gain at world-leading research institutions, incl. University of Oxford and University of Liverpool.
Alicja Dobek won the prize during the ISINIP
During the 21st International Symposium on Iron Nutrition and Interactions in Plants (ISINIP), which took place on July 8-11, 2024 in Düsseldorf, Germany, PhD student Alicja Dobek won the 2nd prize for the best poster.
The presented research was performed under the supervision of Dr. Anna Ihnatowicz in the Laboratory of Plant Protection and Biotechnology headed by prof. Ewa Lojkowska.
MSc Adela Bledea wins the best poster award at the EMBO conference
At the international EMBO conference titled Molecular Biology of Mitochondrial Gene Maintenance and Expression, which took place on May 19-23, 2024, in Józefów, Poland, Adela Bledea, a PhD Student from the Structural Biology Laboratory, led by Prof. Michał R. Szymański, won the award for the best poster!

Dr hab. Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak, prof. UG from the Laboratory of Experimental and Translational Immunology has been elected President of the European Epidermal Barrier Research Network. She will hold the position together with dr Ryan O'Shaughnessy from Queen Mary University of London.

Dr hab. Rafał Dutkiewicz, prof. UG from the Laboratory of Evolutionary Biochemistry, has received funding of PLN 688,080 in the PRELUDIUM BIS 5 competition announced by the National Science Centre.

Danuta Gutowska-Owsiak, MD, PhD, DSc, professor at the University of Gdańsk and the head of the Laboratory of Experimental and Translational Immunology was distinguished by the nomination of the Foundation for Polish Science for AcademiaNet.
Publication of the team from the Laboratory of Experimental and Translational Immunology in the prestigious Journal of Extracellular Vesicles
We are pleased to inform that the article “Excess filaggrin in keratinocytes is removed by extracellular vesicles to prevent premature death and this mechanism can be hijacked by Staphylococcus aureus in a TLR2-dependent fashion” was published in the prestigious scientific journal Journal of Extracellular Vesicles, Impact factor equal to 17,337, 200 points of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Michał Prusiński awarded in the MEiN 'Pearls of Science' competition
The Ministry of Science and Higher Education has settled the first competition in the 'Pearls of Science' competition for student-led grant projects. Nearly 100 projects received funding as part of the program's first edition aimed at exceptionally talented graduates of first-cycle studies and students after completing their third or fourth year of unified master's studies.
