The Structural Biology Laboratory at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology (IFB) of the University of Gdansk and Medical University of Gdansk is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the OPUS 26 project, funded by the National Science Centre entitled:
“Exploring the Impact of Salmonella on the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System”
A perspective candidate will:
• Hold a PhD in biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biology or related fields;
• Have practical knowledge of laboratory and/or computational techniques used in protein biochemistry, molecular biology or structural biology. Expertise in protein interaction assays will also be an asset. Previous experience in the preparation of samples for structural biology studies (X-ray crystallography and/or cryo-EM) will be advantageous.
• Have documented research achievements, including a publication record and active participation in conference presentations;
• Be determined to acquire new skills, embrace challenges and demonstrate the ability to work independently and in a team;
• Have a very good command of English language;
As a postdoctoral researcher you will be responsible for the purification of bacterial proteins and mammalian ubiquitination enzymes involved in protein degradation. You will perform their biophysical and biochemical characterization and be in charge of preparation of samples for structural studies (X-ray crystallography, cryo-EM) and take active part in determination of their structures.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Analysis and interpretation of the obtained results and their preparation in the form of reports and presentations;
• Participation in writing manuscripts;
• Supervision of junior scientists participating in the project;
• Active participation in seminars of the research group, faculty seminars and scientific conferences and trainings;
We offer:
• Full-time employment contract initially for a period of 12 months with extension to 48 months;
• A position fully focused on scientific research (no teaching commitments);
• An annual gross salary 140,000 PLN. The final monthly gross remuneration will be calculated individually during the employment process, taking into account the length of service.

Only selected candidates will be invited to an interview conducted in English. Interview information will be sent to invited candidates by email.
