is looking for a PhD student within the NCN OPUS 21 project “Universal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 variants based on conserved spike protein epitopes – vaccine efficacy studies in vitro and in vivo”

REQUIREMENTS/ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- MSc degree in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology, medical biology or related field.
- Prior practical experience in molecular biology and protein analysis techniques (previous experience in recombinant protein production, mammalian cell culture and virus handling are not mandatory but welcome).
- Public presentation skills.
- Independence in research work - planning and performing experiments.
- Ability to work in a team – good interpersonal communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
- Very good command of English, spoken and written.
- Strong motivation for scientific work in the field of virology, immunology and vaccine design.
RESPONSIBILITIES DURING WORK IN THE PROJECT WILL INCLUDE:
The PhD student will be involved in project funded by National Science Centre (OPUS-21, 2021/41/B/NZ6/02888) “Universal vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 variants based on conserved spike protein epitopes – vaccine efficacy studies in vitro and in vivo”. A successful candidate will take part in a vaccine design, preparing antigens for mouse immunization and analyzing immunological response against SARS-CoV-2 variants.
WE OFFER:
- Full-time PhD studies (4 years) in Intercollegiate Biotechnology Doctoral School of University of Gdańsk and Medical University of Gdańsk.
- Scholarship in amount 5000 pln/month (gross).

The PhD student will be selected in an open competition procedure by a recruitment committee accepted by the Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Gdańsk. The rules for recruitment and employment are included in Act No 95/2020 from the 14th of September 2020 r. by the National Science Centre.
