IFB UG & MUG invites for the lecture of a British artist Gina Czarnecki. “Contagion, 15 years on” is charting the evolution of ideas from the exhibition piece to current work.
“Contagion” was artist’s large-scale, interactive installation exploring the parallels between biological infection and the spread of information, knowledge, rumour and myth, creating a rich and complex visual system in which visitors’ movements generate and influence the evolving imagery.
Through a varied practice of video, installation, drawing, sculpture and often unconventional range of media, Gina Czarnecki’s work engages us with the visceral, psychological and biological grey-areas, hybrids and developments that provoke questions on so many levels. Her research practice focuses on technologies and culture.
Please read more about the artist and her artworks here.
Gina Czarnecki’s artwork will be presented during an exhibition “Beyond borders. Processed Body – Expanded Brain – Distributed Agency” from 18 December 2019 in the Centre for Contemporary Art Łaźnia in Gdańsk. Exhibition focuses on contemporary artistic trends that are related to science, particularly neurology and neural engineering, research on artificial intelligence and robotics, synthetic biology and psychology
The lecture has been organised due to the cooperation of IFB UG&MUG with Centre for Contemporary Art Łaźnia in Gdansk and will take place in the framework of STARBIOS2 project (HORIZON 2020) realised at IFB UG&MUG.
