Our partners
The strategic partners of IFB are the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology (Poland), the European network of research centres MOBI4Health and the association ScanBalt BioRegion (ScanBalt).
In 2012, in collaboration with IIMCB, IFB established a consortium for cooperation in the area of research and modern teaching. We are jointly running Life Science Mathematics Interdisciplinary Doctoral Studies (LiSMIDoS). In addition, we are partners in the project Polish Roadmap for Research Infrastructures.
Our second strategic partner is a European network of research centres, established on our own initiative within the framework of the FP7 project MOBI4Health: 'Center of Molecular Biotechnology for Healthy Life – Biotech solutions bringing health to living organisms and environment supported by mass spec-focused research platform'. MOBI4Health partners are:
- Universitat Kontanz, Germany,
- University of Nottingham, UK,
- Centro de Investigaciones Biologicas, Spain,
- INSA de Lyon UMR5240, France,
- INSERM, Institut national de la sante et de la recherche medicale, France,
- Federico II University of Naples, Italy,
- Philipps Universitat Marburg, Germany,
- Georg-August-Universitat Gottingen, Germany,
- University of Lorraine, France,
- University of Ioannina, Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas Biomedical Research Institute and Medical School, Greece.
The project has received nearly 5 million EUR funding from the European Commission. Nearly 1.5 million euros have been devoted to purchasing the most modern mass spectrometry (MS) equipment, while the remaining funds will be devoted to developing the scientific staff. We are the only university unit in the area of biological sciences in Poland which is a laureate in the call FP7-REGPOT-2012-2013-1.
The third strategic partner is the ScanBalt Association, comprising 60 universities and over 2 000 firms from the biotechnology sector located in the Baltic Sea region. This organization focuses its activities on educational issues, research projects, involves R&D units, hospitals, public and private companies and other public institutions. The Vice-Chairmen of the Association is the Faculty member - Prof. Krzysztof Bielawski. In the framework of ScanBalt, we are members of ScanBalt Campus network, we jointly prepared the ScanBalt Educational Platform, co-organised the ScanBalt Forum 2003 and 2013 and Biotechnology Summer Schools.
Moreover, IFB cooperates with numerous national and international institutions in research work and students as well as research staff exchange, e.g. with University of Wisconsin (USA), Michigan State University (USA), Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry (Germany), University of Alcala (Spain), Biological Control Unit EMBRAPA, Federal University of Goiás (Brasil), etc.
