ERC-funded PhD Student positions
at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology 
of the University of Gdansk and Medical University of Gdansk

 
We are looking for PhD Students to join the Structural Biology Laboratory led by Michal R. Szymanski at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdansk and Medical University of Gdansk (IFB UG & MUG), Gdansk, Poland. The PhD Student will join our “MitoRepairosome” ERC project to investigate human mitochondrial DNA repair pathway (https://erc.europa.eu/news-events/magazine/erc-starting-grant-2019-examples).
 
 
The ideal candidate will:
  1. Hold a master degree in biotechnology, biochemistry, chemistry, molecular biology or related fields
  2. Have documented experience in at least one of the following: Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry.
  3. Have excellent written and oral communication skills in English
  4. Show a good level of independence, self-motivation and reliability
 
Responsibilities:
Overexpression and purification of DNA repair enzymes. Biochemical and biophysical characterization. Protein crystallization and structure determination by X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM.
 
Conditions of employment:
Duration of contract: Full-time, 4 years
Stipend: 4500 PLN / month (net ~ 1050 EURO/ month)

Starting date: October 1st, 2020
